Pancreatic Cancer – Alternative diet does NOT make you live longer

pancreas-in-bodyLast  month I wrote a short post about pancreatic cancer, where I refered you to a longer post on the Cancer Research UK website.  The post was called “Pancreatic Cancer – Why is it so difficult to treat” I am going to do the same thing again and recommend you read another blog post about pancreatic cancer on a different website.

I highly recommend reading “The Gonzalez Protocol: Worse than useless for treating pancreatic cancer“, it is written by a cancer surgeon and scientist working in America.  It is a technical post with a lot of information, try not to get bogged down in the details, but the bottom line is people with pancreatic cancer who ate a vegetarian diet, took a cocktail of pancreatic enzymes and had coffee enema’s died earlier than people having chemotherapy and they felt worse (as measured by “quality of life” questionnaires).

Why am I writing about this study here? As the Respectful Insolence blog points out positive studies into Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM) are widely reported in the press. People don’t often read (or even know that) negative reports exist. There are many reasons for this reporting bias which I will hopefully cover in another post. I am writing about it, because I want more people to know about the scientific research that is being carried out into CAM.  Of course I am “cherry-picking” (which means picking a study I agree with and then writing about it), but this blog is about understanding cancer from a scientific point of view, and in this case the science proves that the alternative treatment is worse than chemotherapy.
